Cardinals Introduce Third Jersey
The Arizona Cardinals introduced a third jersey during the team’s NFL Draft party Thursday afternoon.
Cardinals 2009 first-round pick, running back Beanie Wells modeled the new jersey, which is predominantly black with white numbers and some white trim. The trademark cardinal red has a minimal presence with thin trim along the sides and neck. The jersey is pretty slick looking and should prove popular with fans.
This is the first alternate jersey for the NFL’s oldest team. In fact, until 2005, the Cardinals went more than a century without a major change in its look. The NFL was the last league to adopt alternate jerseys, doing so in 2002. The Arizona Cardinals are the final team to produce an alternate jersey, or “fashion jersey” and have never worn a third jersey other than the 1994 anniversary season.
According to NFL rules, the Cardinals can wear the jersey three times next season, once during the preseason and twice during the regular season. Teams are also permitted to wear alternate jerseys as often as desired in playoff games.

A little too much like the Atlanta Falcons…….I feel that the “Black Out” jersey gets overhyped. I think it takes away from the team and it’s character rather than adds to it. The only exceptions on this are teams who use black as a primary color, ie: Baltimore, Cincinnatti…The Cardinal Red is a great, classic look. But I also understand that revenue has overtaken winning as the ultimate bottom line.
