Info About Coyotes Seven Deadline Trades
The Phoenix Coyotes ended up making seven transactions on a very busy trade deadline day. Here is a bullet point list of the seven moves.
Coyotes acquired Derek Morris from Boston for a conditional draft choice in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Morris, 31, has recorded 3-22-25 and 26 penalty minutes in 58 games with the Bruins this season. Prior to this season, Morris spent parts of five seasons (2004-2009) as a member of the Coyotes before being traded to the New York Rangers on Mar. 4, 2009 in exchange for Petr Prucha, Nigel Dawes and Dmitri Kalinin.
Coyotes acquired Wojtek Wolski from Colorado for Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter. Wolski, 24, has recorded 17-30-47 and 21 penalty minutes in 62 games this season for the Avalanche.
Coyotes acquired Lee Stempniak from Toronto for Matt Jones, 4th and 7th round draft choice in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Stempniak, 27, has recorded 14-16-30 and 18 penalty minutes (PIM) in 62 games with the Maple Leafs this season to rank 3rd on the team in goals and 4th in points.
Coyotes acquire Petteri Nokelainen from Anaheim for a 6th round draft choice in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Nokelainen, 24, has appeared in 50 games for the Ducks this season, recording 4-7-11 and 21 penalty minutes.
Coyotes acquire Mathieu Schneider from Vancouver for Sean Zimmerman and a conditional draft choice in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Schneider, 40, has recorded 2-3-5 and 12 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Canucks this season. Schneider is in his 21st NHL season and has appeared in 1,281 career games with Montreal, the New York Islanders, Toronto, the New York Rangers, Los Angeles, Detroit, Anaheim, Atlanta and Vancouver.
Coyotes acquire Alexandre Picard from Columbus for Chad Kolarik. Picard will report to San Antonio (AHL).
Coyotes acquire Miika Wiikman and a 7th round draft choice in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft for Anders Eriksson. Wiikman will report to San Antonio (AHL).
